The Problem

The Problem

Paying farmers more for their coffee isn't enough.

Education, financial intelligence, sustainability are at the core of our platform creating long term impact.

Since 2018, the team has been focused on building within the specialty coffee space, creating a platform that improves farmer livelihoods, incomes, and environmental outcomes while ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality coffee for commercial partners in the United States and Europe. Since inception, Parallel™ has developed a direct-to-farmer supply chain in Colombia, sourcing specialty green coffee directly from more than 500 smallholder farmers and reducing the number of steps in the supply chain from 10+ to just 2. The team provides farmers with free technical support and transparent premium pricing based on product quality, along with adherence to social and environmental standards. Through this model, Parallel™ improves farmer income by rewarding quality and eliminating unnecessary intermediaries, while strengthening social and environmental practices across its supply chain—supporting more dignified lives for farmers, their families, and their communities.

To maximize its impact, Parallel™ connects smallholder farmers in Colombia directly with specialty coffee importers and roasters in the United States and Europe. The company continues to expand its reach going after markets in the Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Singapore, Australia and more..  Parallel™ is also constantly expending its network of farmers,  maintaining a transparent pricing structure based on quality and compliance with its standards. This approach enables Parallel™ to scale its impact by linking more farmers to growing global demand for variety, high-quality, and responsibly sourced coffee,

Together we can restore dignity, opportunities and hope for coffee farmers.

A model based on realities and research.

Parallel™ was established following the realization that current coffee market dynamics—including systems such as Fair Trade—can unintentionally contribute to ongoing economic challenges for smallholder farmers. These models often rely on fixed pricing structures tied to compliance with certain social and environmental standards, rather than fully reflecting the quality of the coffee produced.

Because these pricing structures are typically set only slightly above commodity market levels, smallholder farmers are effectively competing within the broader commodity market—alongside large-scale producers, without the advantages of scale or mechanization. At the same time, limited access to direct markets, due to geographic and resource constraints, has historically required many farmers to sell either at standardized pricing levels or through intermediaries such as local middlemen and cooperatives, where negotiating power is often uneven.

As a result, many smallholder farmers face high operating costs while lacking consistent access to pricing that reflects the quality of their product. Parallel™ addresses these challenges by creating direct, transparent market access and establishing a structure where quality is more meaningfully recognized and rewarded.

Unnecessary middle-men and overly priced certifications are trapping farmers in a poverty loop.

The Parallel model is built on four core pillars.

1. Standards & Accountability

Parallel works directly at origin with a network of smallholder producers to implement a clear set of social and environmental expectations required for participation. These guidelines are informed by globally recognized frameworks but are adapted to reflect the realities of each producing region. The goal is to strengthen responsible practices at the community level while maintaining practical, on-the-ground applicability.

2. Technical Partnership at Origin

Producers within the Parallel network receive ongoing agronomic support focused on improving cultivation methods, environmental stewardship, and post-harvest processes. These practices are developed through years of

field experience and are intentionally designed to be accessible—relying on existing farm resources rather than requiring additional financial investment. As a result, farmers are able to improve both quality and yield, creating more stable and meaningful income growth.

3. Quality-Based Pricing & Direct Relationships

Once producers reach specialty-grade quality thresholds, Parallel purchases coffee based entirely on cup quality through a transparent pricing structure. By establishing direct relationships and clearly defined premiums, the model reduces reliance on volatile commodity markets and creates a more predictable and equitable income stream for producers.

4. Long-Term Community Investment

Parallel is committed to reinvesting in the communities where it operates. A portion of revenue is directed toward initiatives identified by producers and local partners, including areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure. These efforts are designed to respond to real, locally defined needs and support long-term resilience at origin.
